A personal computer (PC) is any general purpose computer the size, capacity and price, make it useful for people, and is intended to be run by an end user's computer without operator intervention. In models of change, batch processing or time-sharing that allows for large mainframes expensive to be used by many people, usually at the same time. Large data processing systems require a full-time staff to operate efficiently.
Software applications for personal computers include, but are not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, web browsers and email clients, digital playback, multimedia, games and personal productivity applications and software purpose much more special. Modern personal computers often have connections to the Internet, allowing access to the World Wide Web and a wide range of other resources. Personal computers can be connected to a local area network (LAN), either through a wired or wireless. A personal computer can be a desktop or laptop, Tablet PC or laptop.

While the principles of PC owners usually had to write their own programs to do something useful with the machines, users today have access to a wide range of commercial and open source software, which is provided in ready to run or ready to compile form. Since the 1980's, Microsoft and Intel have dominated much of the personal computer market, first with MS-DOS and then with the Wintel platform. Alternatives to

Windows, Mac OS X includes Apple and open source operating system Linux. AMD is the major alternative to Intel. PC applications and games are usually developed and distributed independently of the hardware or operating system manufacturers, while the software for many mobile phones and other portable systems are approved and distributed through a centralized online store. [1] [2]
In July and August 2011, marketing companies and journalists began to speak of the 'post-PC era ", a time when the desktop form factor was replaced with more computer laptops as netbooks and Tablet PC [ 3].
